Community Tourism Initiative

The whole ethos of the Highlands and Islands Tourism Awards is the celebration of an industry working in unison. This award is specifically aimed at recognising community collaboration. The judges will be looking for initiatives and projects where community groups and businesses have worked together to improve the way their destination caters for visitors. Examples could include: improving appearance, infrastructure, streetscaping, footpaths, quality of welcome, things to see & do, events, festivals etc.

Entries are invited from towns, villages or communities within Highland area. This can include discrete sections of a town/city, eg town centre partnership, harbour users’ group etc.

  • Total entry to be no more that 750 words
  • Supporting materials should be provided to accompany the completed entry form for Community Tourism
  • Entry forms sent by email will not be accepted
  • This ‘Community Tourism’ entry form must be completed and returned to the address below with supporting materials to arrive no later than 5pm on Friday 29th August 2008
  • Entries received after 5pm on Friday 29th August will not be accepted
  • Entries and supporting materials cannot be returned to the sender
